Kandace Overgaag specializes in individual, family, and child psychotherapy in Santa Barbara, California.
As a therapist, I have helped people to live happier, more fulfilling lives. I can help guide you to new and constructive ways of dealing with situations and issues that feel out of control. You’ll start to acknowledge, understand, and resolve your problems and enhance your life.
Kandace believes that therapy is a positive, growth-oriented process. She works with patients on a variety of life’s challenges including self-esteem issues, relationship problems, life transitions, anxiety and more.
In addition, Kandace has presented at National conferences and to general audiences on topics including learning disabilities in children and adults, promoting self-esteem, and disordered eating.
Education and Training
With a Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology and an Antioch University of Santa Barbara graduate, Kandace has significant clinical experience working with a wide variety of clients providing individual and group psychotherapy.
Kandace studied at University of California, Santa Barbara where she began her work as a clinical intern with Isla Vista Elementary School and the La Patera research project. With a Major in Sociology and Minor in English, Kandace continued her work at Lindamood-Bell Learning Processes working with children and adolescents with ADD/ADHD and learning disorders.
In private practice, Kandace continued her work with UCSB and SBCC students providing individual and group therapy.
Kandace has facilitated group therapy on topics including Self-Esteem, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance, Evocative Art Therapy, Alcohol and Drug Abuse at Sanctuary Psychiatric Centers of Santa Barbara and the Arlington Day Treatment Center.
With Family Service Agency of Santa Barbara and the Carpinteria Unified School District, Kandace has worked with hundreds of local families providing individual therapy, parenting support, advocacy and treatment in Santa Barbara County.
